Our Story

Realizing there was simply not enough representation of the LGBTQ+ community in the rural Willamette Valley wine growing regions, a small group of like minded local friends and  business owners came together to create Wine Country Pride.

It was only 2.5 weeks between a chance meeting at a BLM event and the creation of Wine Country Pride– a one day event complete with a car parade, drag queens, a raffle, performances, and speakers.  Over $3,000 was raised that first year, with $1400 to our local PFLAG chapter to start Newberg’s first LGBTQ scholarship for a graduating senior.

Gay Pride Celebrations

After the first year, we knew there were voices in the community that needed to be amplified. Wine Country Pride is dedicated to showing up to give support to the LGBTQ+ community and to offer a space in which members and allies can be heard and in which they feel welcome. Since our first event, WCP has raised over $30,000. These funds provide scholarships to LGBTQ+ youth and support local organizations that advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.

We are a young organization with big goals and big dreams. We are expanding our programming and initiatives every year with the aim to positively impact as many people in our community as possible. Pride will always be a place to come together and to feel welcome and safe. We wish everyone a little more love, joy, and rainbow in their lives. 🦄
