HOW IT STARTED
In the spring of 2020, a group of friends, locals, and business owners decided the middle of a pandemic was the PERFECT time to launch a rural Oregon Pride event.
From a meeting in the street at a BLM March, it was only 2.5 weeks until the first Wine Country Pride graced us in all of her glory. We had a car parade, drag queens, raffle, performances, and speakers. We raised over $3,000 our first year and were able to donate $1400 to our local PFLAG chapter to start Newberg’s first LGBTQ scholarship for a graduating senior.
2021 is bringing a major expansion to WCP. Our flagship event at Remy Wines is bringing in food trucks and more drag queens. The PFLAG Parade is expanding, we are adding Yoga on the Lawn, the Rainbow Quest for the month of June, and more bells, whistles, glitter, balloons, flags, and dance parties than you can imagine.
This baby is young, but her future is bright and we can't wait to watch her grow.
